Occlusion in General Practice - Dr Tom Giblin

  • Bathurst Dental Specialists 113 Bentinck Street Bathurst, NSW, 2795 Australia (map)

This course is designed to demystify occlusion- an area of dentistry that can create a lot of confusion for many dentists. It will cover the anatomical, neurological and biomechanical basis for occlusion, how to obtain accurate records, the use of articulators and tips for fixed prosthodontics, restorative, implants and dentures. It will explain the relationship between TMD and occlusion for predictable restorative dentistry. It will also give you the tools to start diagnosing, planning and treating patients from a single tooth to a full arch.

Attendees will participate in hands on exercises as well as observe clinical techniques on a patient in the chair.

These will include:-

  • The use of a leaf gauge to deprogram, find Centric Relation and vertical dimension

  • The use of facebows and articulators, including accurate mounting and setting the instrument

  • Diagnosis and making occlusal splints that work

  • Occlusal equilibration

We will also have 2 follow up modules to build on this course in the future-
